Sea snake soup (Irabu-jiru)
This soup was one of the royal court cuisines of Ryukyu Kingdom. But since it took time to cook, it was categorized as one of the highest graded dishes of Okinawa. Irabu (Black-banded sea krait) is mainly captured around the Kudaka islands, Ishigaki islands and Miyako islands. But you can find stick-shaped smoked Irabu and coil-shaped smoked Irabu hung at the markets in Naha city.
